Southeast Tourism Society, an organization devoted to the promotion and development of tourism to
and within the Southeastern United States, has selected the Vidalia Onion Festival as one of its Top 20 Events
for April in the Southeastern United States.
Texas Onion Fest - Weslaco, Texas - April 3-4, 2009
Weslaco's Texas Onion Fest is turning "20" and it promises to be sweeter than the year
before. This year's festivities take place over two days to celebrate the development of the 1015 Onion in Weslaco.

The one-day festival offers onion-eating contests, onion recipe
contest, onion clipping contest and entertainment for the entire family. A variety of music on two stages and
local food vendors serve a variety of area specialties and the Chamber provides the liquid refreshments. For

20th Annual Maui Onion Festival - Saturday May 2nd, 2009
There are onions. And then there are Maui Kula Onions. Believed by many to be the
sweetest onions in the whole wide world, these glorious bulbs are the star of our annual festival. The Maui
Onion Festival has been a signature event at Whalers Village since 1990. It’s dedicated to the cultivation and
promotion of the world-famous Maui Kula Onion and is attended by thousands of visitors and residents every
year.
The 33rd Annual Glennville Sweet Onion Festival - May 9, 2009
Glennville’s biggest annual event, the Glennville Sweet Onion Festival, has hosted over 32 years
of events, and sunny skies have shone upon every one. The festive day on the second Saturday of each May
celebrates the harvesting of the famous Vidalia sweet onion crop. The day begins with a sweet onion run and walk
and a downtown parade. Then on to the State Farmers’ Market on Highway 301 South for an array of arts and
crafts, delightful entertainment, children's rides and games, delectable food (that includes fried sweet onion
rings and blooming onions). The event draws over 6,000 people each year.
Garlic & Onion Festival - Agua Linda Farm, Amado, Arizona - June 20-21, 2009
Last year we celebrated the tasty garlic and onion harvest with our first ever Garlic
& Onion Festival and it was a big hit! There's not a lot going on in June and folks came from far and wide to
enjoy an evening on the farm. This year we will be having our 2nd annual Garlic & Onion Festival on June 20
& 21, 2009. We have this event in the evening - starting at 5PM to avoid the hottest part of the day. And, it
is a little cooler here on the farm. Our elevation is higher than Tucson, and our mature shade trees and grassy
lawns help keep temperatures down. Admission for this event is free!
